KD26 B

KD26 B is a sleeveless cardigan consisting of both black and white wool crochet squares, arranged in a graphic pattern that creates the uppercase B. This typographic artwork can be worn as a garment but can also be displayed as an object on the wall. While the uppercase B is often characterized by its round shapes, in this case both the shape and its building blocks are square, resulting in a constructed character of horizontal and vertical lines. In the garment, the central vertical lines at the front and back can be seen as the spine. Research into translating two-dimensional traditional crochet stitches into three-dimensional building blocks formed the foundation of the final garment. By assigning different depths to these building blocks, the vertical lines in the garment are accentuated. The front and back of the garment are designed as two separate pieces that fit together perfectly and form one compact whole.
